I am frequently asked, "What is it?" While I understand the urge to place things in a representational space, I'm somewhat hesitant to make the images carry any weight other than what is contained inside the frame. I have worked for a number of years taking photos from an airplane, and I feel this has greatly impacted my sense of composition. I have become fascinated by the similarities between landscapes shot from a great altitude, and the tiny details of the world around us. The same shapes and forms repeat again and again at every level of magnification. In exploring this continuity of form, I have found beautiful images in unexpected places. When gathering all of these images together and deciding what groups they fit into, and what titles to give individual pieces, I found myself asking instead, |
